Recognition
Frank Fetrow is an American painter, trained in Florence. Trained at the Angel Academy of Art, he learned something that almost no one teaches anymore — the complete method of classical painting. The same discipline, the same materials, the same way of seeing that has defined portraiture for five hundred years.
The Academy's founder, Michael John Angel, studied under Pietro Annigoni — the last great figurative painter of the 20th century, whose portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and Pope John XXIII hang in some of the world's most significant collections. That lineage, rare and largely unbroken, is the tradition Frank carries forward.
His paintings are oil on linen. Every original is a singular object — the record of a specific person, seen and translated by a specific hand, at a specific moment in time.
His work has already been recognized internationally — a Finalist at the Almenara Art Prize and a Certificate of Excellence from the Portrait Society of America. And he is only just getting started.
